The Krama is one of the most recognizable symbols of Cambodia. Made from cotton or silk, it is commonly red-and-white or blue-and-white. Cambodians use the krama in everyday life — as a scarf, a hat, a belt, a baby carrier, or even a hammock for children!
The krama represents strength, creativity, and unity. From farmers in the fields to students in school, everyone can find a use for it. It also symbolizes the Cambodian spirit, because although simple, it is very useful and can help in many situations.
Lesson Learned
Sometimes, the simplest things have the greatest value. The krama teaches us to appreciate our culture and the everyday items that reflect who we are.
